    2

Unplug the charger from the collar and press the gray plug into the charging jack in the collar. Touch the two red paper dots on the ends of the collar together to turn it on. The green indicator light will start blinking to indicate that the collar is on.

    3

Place the collar on your dog and buckle it so that you can place one finger between the collar and your pet. The receiver is in the front at your dog's throat.

    4

Place a small flat-head screwdriver in the slot of the battery compartment in the transmitter. Turn the screwdriver counterclockwise to loosen the battery compartment door and pull it straight off. Hold the transmitter with the antenna pointing down. Flip all three stimulation switches up to achieve the lowest level of stimulation. Replace the battery compartment door, insert a screwdriver and turn it clockwise to seal the door.

    5

Press the button on the transmitter to correct your dog when he is exhibiting incorrect behavior. Your dog should slightly twitch his head, neck or shoulders to show he received the stimulation.

    6

How to Stop a Dog From Eating Things When You're Not Home

How to Stop a Dog From Eating Things When You're Not Home

Whether your dog eats inappropriate things at every opportunity or only when you're away from home, putting an end to the destructive behavior is good for both of you. The best course of action is to treat the root of the problem, which could be boredom, separation anxiety or even a medical problem. In any case, if you treat the problem, you finally can compel him to stop eating, chewing and otherwise destroying your things. "...Many individuals believe that it is essential to get dog training tips preceding to acquiring their pets. Some individuals might find this exciting but a lot of people could concur that this is a very good tip to follow. The condition with some pet owners is they will get a dog and then find out that they may be not suitable to be aware of them. Finally, they would get away from their pets in order to retrieve their old lives. These dog training tips can let people learn what they need to handle and if they have the time to coach their dogs. These tips can be found on Secrets To Dog Training. By using the time to carry out suitable dog training, you will delight in a lifetime of comfortable friendship with your "....

Rule Out Illness

The first motivator to rule out is illness, because ending your dog's inappropriate chewing could be as simple as taking a trip to the vet. For example, dogs with nutritional deficiencies may eat inappropriate things, like houseplants -- and if he knows that doing so gets a negative reaction, he may wait until you leave the house to do it. Ask your veterinarian about your dog's chewing problem, and you may find out that his compulsion is biological, not psychological. Always consult an experienced veterinarian regarding the health and treatment of your pet.

Treating Separation Anxiety

If your dog eats inappropriate things only when you're away, he could be coping with separation anxiety. Some dogs become too stressed when left home alone, and it manifests in destructive behavior, like chewing on anything he can get his paws on. It may even lead to self-destructive behavior, so conditioning is key. Depending on the severity of his separation anxiety, you may need a professional behaviorist or trainer to recommend the proper course of treatment. Otherwise, simply giving him special treats when you are gone and leaving him alone for increasingly longer periods can train him to accept being by himself.

Increase Toy Appeal

A combination of boredom and missing you can drive your dog to chew selectively on inappropriate items more than the things you give him. For example, you may come home to find your underwear mangled and shredded, but his new rubber toy pristine. If your dog is ignoring the chew toys you give him, increase their appeal. For example, stuffing a hollow rubber toy with peanut butter can keep him busy as he works to dig it all out. Alternatively, keep his toys in your dirty laundry before you give them to him -- they'll smell just as appetizing as your gym socks, which is just the way he likes it.

Hide the Goods

Prevention is one of the best ways to treat inappropriate eating, so when you're away from home, keep the contraband out of reach. If your dog likes to eat dirty clothes, for example, keep the hamper behind closed doors. If he has a taste for houseplants, put them up where he can't reach. You may even find that crating your dog while you're away from home alleviates his anxiety -- and it certainly keeps him from accessing that which should not be eaten.

How to Potty Train Lab Mixes

How to Potty Train Lab Mixes

An adorable Lab-mix puppy is a great addition to any family. These furry creatures make great companions and are fun to play with or cuddle with. Lab-mix puppies crave human attention and become very protective of their family. The Lab-mix puppy should be trained as soon as possible to prevent any bad habits from developing. Potty training can be easily achieved if the owner is consistent and praises the puppy for doing well.

Instructions

    1

Watch your puppy closely during the first few weeks of potty training. Puppies will begin to sniff around when they need to go out or they will squat on the floor. If you see your puppy beginning to squat, pick him up and take him outside.

    2

Take the puppy outside 10 minutes after eating or drinking. Puppies need to go to the bathroom shortly after eating or drinking because their bladder and other organs are not fully developed at this stage. Monitoring their water and food intake will help prevent accidents from occurring indoors.

    3

Take the puppy outside consistently throughout the day while training. During this time do not let your Lab-mix puppy play. Lab-mix puppies love to play outdoors but they need to distinguish between a time to play and a time to go potty. Try and use the same door and the same area each time the puppy goes outside. If you are consistent with the puppy, it will help your pet learn to communicate with you when it needs to go to the bathroom.

    4

Praise your puppy each time it goes outside with words of encouragements and special treats. Lab-mix puppies love to please their owners and get special attention from them. Let your puppy know that it has done a good job by going potty in the appropriate area. Give a treat to the puppy as soon as he finishes going potty to reward him for his good behavior. Do not scold the puppy if a mistake happens inside; instead, pick the puppy up and bring him to the designated area to finish.

    5

Put the puppy in a training kennel when you cannot keep watch over him. "...Many people believe that it must be necessary to get dog training tips prior to getting their pets. Some people could find this fascinating but a lot of people might agree that this is a very good tip to follow. The situation with some pet owners is they will get a dog and then find out that they are not suitable to be cautious of them. Eventually, they would probably depart their pets in order to bring back their old lives. These dog training tips can let people know what they need to deal with and if they have the time to train their dogs. These tips may be found on Secrets To Dog Training. By taking the time to execute suitable dog training, you will take pleasure in a lifetime of comfortable a relationship with your ".... Prior to putting the puppy in the kennel take him out to go potty. The puppy can stay in the kennel for up to four hours at a time. Lab-mix puppies generally like the kennel because it make them feel safe and secure. Accidents rarely occur when a puppy is in the kennel because it becomes their "home." The kennel can also give your Lab-mix puppy boundaries when they have moments of hyperactivity. Never use the kennel as a punishment for the puppy when an accident occurs. This will make the puppy afraid of the kennel.

How to Housebreak a One-Year-Old Bulldog

How to Housebreak a One-Year-Old Bulldog

From bull baiter to family friendly pet, the bulldog has become the 16th most popular dog breed in America, according to the American Kennel Club. Despite its early use in bull-baiting, a sport which required the dog to grab a bull by the nose and not let go, the bulldog is a friendly, patient and comical dog. They are patient around children and their eagerness to please their humans makes them easy to train. They can be stubborn, however, and housebreaking an adult bulldog takes patience and consistency.

Instructions

    1

Crate your bulldog when you aren't home. Bulldogs are reluctant to soil their sleep area, so you'll be less likely to find a mess when you come back. Purchase a crate that is large enough for a 50 pound bulldog to stand up and turn around in. You should avoid crating your bulldog if it does have accidents in the crate, however, or it will just learn to keep doing so.

    2

Walk your bulldog outside on a leash. Despite a low energy level compared to some other breeds, bulldogs love to play, and being leashed will show it that this is a time for business instead. Encourage your dog to "go potty" or do it's "business." This teaches it a verbal cue that will eventually signal to your bulldog when it is time to potty.

    3

Reward your bulldog if it does potty while it is outside. Give it a snack and a pat on the back with some excited praise. You can also let it off the leash to romp around the yard or play a quick game of tug-of-war. Rewarding your bulldog teaches it that it pleases you when it "potties" outside, and the eager-to-please bulldog will want to do it again.

    4

Clap to interrupt your bulldog if you find it urinating or defecating in the house. Hurry outside with it and encourage it to finish by telling it to "go potty." This gives you an opportunity to show your bulldog where it is appropriate to potty and where it is not without punishing your dog and creating resentment, fear or aggression. Stubborn bulldogs don't respond well to a heavy hand.

    5

Neuter your bulldog if it is a male and marks inside the house but is otherwise housetrained. This can often solve the problem almost immediately.

    6

Make your bulldog an appointment to see a vet if it continues to have accidents in the house, even if it can hold its bladder and ask to be let outside. "...Some people assume the reason is essential to get dog training tips preceding to having their pets. Some people may find this interesting but a lot of people may concur that this is a great tip to follow. The condition with a number of pet owners is they will get a dog and then find out that they are simply not suitable to take care of them. Finally, they would get away from their pets in order to bring back their old lives. These dog training tips can let people realize what they should take care of and if they have the time to coach their dogs. These hints could be found on Secrets To Dog Training. By using the time to carry out correct dog training, you will get pleasure from a lifetime of comfortable a relationship with your ".... Health problems can sometimes make it difficult for a bulldog to wait to relieve itself, and certain behavior problems, such as separation anxiety will lead a dog to have accidents as well. Consult with your vet to see if a health or anxiety issue might be causing the problem.
