How to Train a Puppy When You Work All Day

How to Train a Puppy When You Work All Day

Bringing a cute little puppy into your home is exciting, but it is not without work. It is important for you to have a plan to train your puppy, especially if you will be returning to a full day of work outside your home shortly after its arrival. With the right tools, and some outside help, you should be able to train your puppy in a relatively short time. "...Lots of individuals think that it can be crucial to get dog training tips preceding to getting their pets. Many people might discover this fascinating but a lot of people could concur that this is a great tip to follow. The challenge with some pet owners is they will get a dog and then find out that they are simply not suitable to be cautious of them. Ultimately, they might abandon their pets in order to retrieve their old lives. These dog training tips can let people find out what they need to handle and if they have the time to teach their dogs. These tips will be found on Secrets To Dog Training. Through the time to perform appropriate dog training, you will take pleasure in a lifetime of relaxed a relationship with your ".... However, if you are not proactive about its training, you could experience slow progress.

Instructions

    1

Take some vacation time when you get your puppy. Training should start from day one, and you will not be able to establish any type of training routine if you are not present.

    2

Use a crate to house train your puppy. A crate is a great training tool because it helps a puppy feel secure and puppies generally do not like to go to the bathroom where they sleep. Leave the crate door open, and allow your pet unlimited access to it when you are home. Put a chew toy and blanket inside to make it an appealing place. When you leave your home or go to bed for the night, lure your puppy into the crate with a treat and close the door. As soon as you arrive home or wake up, take your dog outside and reward it with a treat for eliminating outside. Do not leave your new puppy in the crate for more than two hours at a time during the day to avoid accidents. Additionally, your puppy may cry during the night to alert you when it needs to go outside. As your puppy approaches 4 months old, increase its crate time to up to six hours during the day when necessary.

    3

Establish consistent feeding times for your puppy. Consistent feeding will allow you to better predict when your dog needs to eliminate and thus make you more successful at letting it out before it has an accident. A morning and evening feeding schedule is best if you will not typically be home during the middle of the day. Additionally, take your puppy out on a consistent basis with no more than two hours between trips outside. Remember, small puppies have small bladders. Reward your dog with a treat each time it eliminates outside. If your dog is having a lot of accidents, note the amount of time between each elimination and take it out within that time frame.

    4

Make a few visits home throughout the day to let your puppy out when you go back to work. This will allow you to continue taking it out on a regular basis as well as provide it some necessary attention. If you cannot come home during your work day, hire a dog walker to stop by your home and let your puppy out. Choose a professional dog walker or hire a responsible neighborhood kid to visit your pet. Make sure whoever works with your puppy follows your behavior plan of reinforcing your pet for eliminating outside.

How to Train Yellow Labradors

How to Train Yellow Labradors

Labradors are highly intelligent and trainable.(Reference 1, pg. 102) In fact, they are often trained to hunt, track, lead the blind and work as search and rescue dogs.(Reference 2, pg. 6) Training your dog will increase your bond and provide countless hours of fun for both of you.

Instructions

    1

Begin training as soon as possible. The age of 10 to 12 weeks is the right time to begin training your Labrador.

    2

Be positive and patient training your dog. Labradors, unlike some other breeds, tend to mature more slowly. They act like puppies well into adulthood so patience is a must. This breed will not respond to harsh training methods.

    3

Be consistent. Use the same word or hand signal for each command. For instance, if you use the stay command, always say "stay" when you desire this behavior. Don't use "stay," "halt" or "stop" interchangeably and expect the dog to understand what you want.

    4

Reward your Labrador for appropriate responses. Reward him with food or praise. Labs love praise most of all. However, do not overpraise the Labrador. "...Many people believe that it can be crucial to get dog training tips preceding to getting their pets. A number of people might find this interesting but a lot of people can concur that this is a really good tip to follow. The problem with some pet owners is they will get a dog and then find out that they may be not suitable to take care of them. Ultimately, they might abandon their pets in order to bring back their old lives. These dog training tips can let people understand what they need to handle and if they have the time to teach their dogs. These hints can be found on Secrets To Dog Training. By taking the time to conduct appropriate dog training, you will enjoy a lifetime of comfortable friendship with your ".... This tends to confuse the dog and can make training more difficult. When you reward the dog for doing the right thing, your Lab will want to keep doing the right thing.

    5

Use repetition. Keep going over commands again and again to make sure your dog really understands each command you ask.

    6

Be consistent with your training. Plan on spending 10 to 15 minutes each day training your dog.

How to Stop a Pitbull From Licking

How to Stop a Pitbull From Licking

The American Pit Bull Terrier has gained such a fearsome reputation that it is banned in some counties or housing areas and some insurance companies won't insure homeowners that have the breed. This fear of pit bulls comes from its past as a fighting dog. Because of this history, some pit bulls can be aggressive toward other dogs. What many people may not realize is that even fighting dogs were bred specifically to be tolerant and patient with humans. While the image of a pit bull babysitting your child may seem odd to you, pit bulls are renowned for their patience with children. They are affectionate dogs that crave love and attention from humans. Pit bulls often show their affection by licking, a habit which you may not like.

Instructions

    1

Move away from your pit bull when he tries to lick you. Don't try to push him away or even talk to him. Licking is a cry for attention, and even negative attention is better than no attention. Simply move away and ignore your pit bull for as long as it takes for the dog to stop trying to lick you.

    2

Give your pit bull the attention she wants when she finally does stop licking. Praise her, pet her and give her a dog treat if you have one available. This will teach your pit bull that she does not get attention when she licks, but that being patient will earn her the love she craves.

    3

Teach your pit bull basic obedience commands such as "Sit" and "Lie Down." Use these commands when your pit bull is persistent in his efforts to lick you and ignoring him isn't working. Turn away from him, but ask him to sit as well. This will give your pit bull an alternative course of action. When he stops licking you and obeys your command, reward him with affection.

    4

Practice steps one through three consistently until your pit bull learns the lesson. Depending on your dog's individual personality, it can take days, weeks or even months to change the licking habit into a more appropriate behavior. Be patient, and give your pit bull attention only when she isn't licking you.

How to Potty Train a Pitbull in Cold Weather

How to Potty Train a Pitbull in Cold Weather

Despite a fearsome reputation as fighting dogs, American pit bull terriers, or American Staffordshire terriers, are friendly house pets and can be patient with young children. They can be dog aggressive, however, and unless they are socialized from a young age they do best in a home without other pets. Pit bulls are anxious to please their humans but can be stubborn and strong-willed. This means getting your pit bull outside in cold or stormy weather can be an ordeal, but potty training in the winter is still possible.

Instructions

    1

Take your pit bull puppy outside on a leash whenever it is time for a potty trip. The leash will help you coax (or possibly drag) your pit bull out into the cold. It will also signal that it's time for business, not time for play. Walk your pit bull to a designated area in the yard to teach it that this is its bathroom spot. Take your pit bull outside every two hours if it is a puppy, and every four or five if it is an adult that can hold its bladder for longer periods.

    2

Praise and reward your pit bull for stepping out into the cold weather. This will help turn a negative experience (the cold) into a positive one in your pit bull's mind. Give your pit bull a good scratch and let it know that you are happy that it has come outside with you.

    3

Supervise your pit bull when you are inside the house. Don't let it wander on its own until it is reliably potty trained or you risk finding messes. "...Many individuals think the reason is essential to get dog training tips preceding to having their pets. Many people could find this fascinating but a lot of people could recognize that this is a great tip to follow. The condition with some pet owners is they will get a dog and then find out that they can be not suitable to be cautious of them. In the end, they might get away from their pets in order to retrieve their old lives. These dog training tips can let people realize what they should consider and if they have the time to coach their dogs. These suggestions may be found on Secrets To Dog Training. By using the time to carry out correct dog training, you will enjoy a lifetime of comfortable friendship with your ".... Keep your pit bull in the room with you. Confine it to a crate if you have to leave the house. Pit bulls don't like to soil their beds and will be less likely to have accidents in crates than if they are loose in the house. Don't leave your pit bull alone for more than two or three hours, however, or it may not be able to hold its bladder.

    4

Establish a routine for your pit bull. This will help regulate its system. It will also help it to feel more confident that its needs will be met. Pit bulls are creatures of habit and thrive on routine. Feed your pit bull at the same times each day and let it outside to potty half an hour to 45 minutes later. Always let your pit bull outside immediately after you come home, and before bed.

    5

Interrupt your pit bull if you catch it having an accident in the house. Make a loud noise by clapping or saying "no." Don't punish your pit bull. They are stubborn dogs and don't respond well to bullying. Punishment can create mistrust and fear, which can lead your pit bull to become aggressive later on. Simply rush your pit bull outside to finish its business.

    6

Reward your pit bull each time it potties outside. Treats and praise will motivate your pit bull to keep trying. Remember that the breed is typically eager to please and when you reward your pit bull you teach it how to make you happy. A pit bull that knows what is expected of it will be confident and willing to keep learning.
