How to Get Dogs From Using the Bathroom in the Bushes

Nothing is worse than the overwhelming scent of dog urine and brown bushes. Whether your own dog or your neighbor's dog is urinating on your bushes, you must put a stop to the problem. After awhile, the scent becomes more unpleasant, and the bushes just keep dying. Get rid of the problem through the use of natural remedies such as cayenne pepper and coffee grounds.

Get rid of the dogs' scent. Dogs urinate in various places as a way of marking their territories. Hose down the bushes with water. Thoroughly saturate the bushes and ground. Water washes away the dog's urine or "marked" areas. Spray the plants and the ground with a plant-safe odor eliminating spray.

Mulch the ground underneath and around your bushes with coffee grounds. Add a few drops of peppermint and citronella oil to the grounds. Coffee, peppermint oil and citronella oil discourage dogs from getting too close to the bushes.

Use cayenne pepper as a natural dog repellant. The scent of cayenne pepper is not only unpleasant to dogs but is also a mild irritant. Sprinkle an ample amount of cayenne pepper around the base of your bushes. Sprinkle cayenne pepper around the perimeter of your yard and directly in front of the bushes, as well.
