How to Use Pea Gravel for Pitbulls

Pea gravel is often used as ground cover for driveways but it can also be used to create a place for your pitbull to eliminate. Pea gravel is made up of small pieces of gravel about the size of peas. It has good drainage and is easier to walk on than large pieces of gravel that have sharp edges. Placing pea gravel on the ground for your dog to eliminate on will protect your lawn from animal waste that can kill grass.

Mark the area you want your pitbull to eliminate. Put pea gravel in places like kennel floors, garden borders, fence borders, paths or in a large patch in the yard. This will attract your dog to the gravel and keep the dog from urinating on or digging in other areas like your lawn.

Replenish lost gravel once a week. You will eventually lose gravel when raking it and picking up waste that has mixed in with the gravel. Keep a supply of pea gravel on hand and replenish by sprinkling a new layer of gravel once a week or as needed.
