Tri-Tronics Pro 100 XL Directions

The correct use of a stimulation collar, sometimes called a shock collar, when training a dog provides an opportunity to retain control and provide correction while the dog is off its leash. The Tri-Tronics Pro100XL is a remote training unit with multiple correction options. The hand-held transmitter can be used to send a tone-only signal to the receiving unit on the collar, or an electronic stimulation of low to high intensity can be delivered. When used appropriately, the device can be an effective training tool. However, care should be taken to use the lowest possible setting at all times, with stimulation given only as a correction and never to punish the dog.

Instructions

Install the receiver onto the supplied strap collar, sliding the strap through the slot on one side of the receiver and through the slot on the other side. Position the strap against the surface of the receiver and adjust the length to the size of the dog's neck. Screw the supplied transmitter antenna to the top of the receiver, aligning the antenna to the base and tightening by hand. Charge the transmitter and receiver, using the supplied adapters to attach each unit to a power source for 14 hours.

Place the collar on the dog, fastening the collar strap midway between the dog's ears and shoulders, then buckle.

Turn the collar on by setting the "Intensity Knob" to "0" and pressing any button on the transmitter down for five seconds while standing within 10 feet of the collar. Reverse the process to turn the unit off.

Turn the "Intensity Knob" to select the intensity of the stimulation, choosing one of six settings, with "1" being the lowest setting and "6" the highest. Press the top button on the transmitter to deliver a momentary correction. Press the middle button to deliver a "Medium" continuous stimulation and press the bottom button to deliver a "Low" continuous stimulation. When using the middle and lower buttons, the unit will override the "Intensity" setting. The unit has a built-in safety feature that cuts off any stimulation after nine seconds.

Activate the tone-only correction feature by pressing the transmitter light that doubles as the "Tone" button.
