How to Get My Dog to Like the Gentle Leader

The Gentle Leader is a head collar manufactured by Premier Pets that is designed as a training tool to prevent your dog from pulling on the leash. It may take some time for your dog to adjust the the Gentle Leader collar, because many dogs instinctively try to remove the straps from their face. However, with the proper training and guidance, your pet will eventually grow accustomed to the Gentle Leader.

Instructions

    Put the Gentle Leader on your dog when it is in a relaxed state. Give it a treat. Remove the Gentle Leader collar immediately. The key is to associate wearing the head collar with positive reinforcement. Do not attempt to walk your dog until it becomes acclimated to the collar.

    Gradually increase the amount of time that your dog wears the collar before giving it a treat.
